MSC Malaysia Innovation Voucher



The programme aims to increase collaboration between Malaysia's public and private IHLs and RIs with MSC Malaysia Status Companies, which serve to create a cultural shift in the business community's approach to innovation. The innovation vouchers can be used to support projects or procure services from the various approved service providers. These activities should facilitate the transfer of know-how from the service provider to the MSC Malaysia Status Companies. Accordingly, this will assist in potential leads in innovative prototypes, quality products and potential IP creation.


Programme Criteria

At the time of applications, the following eligibility criteria must be fulfilled:
1. Possess a valid MSC Malaysia-Status certification, with 51% Malaysian shareholding.
2. Services must be procured from the list of approved service providers (Institutions of Higher Learning, Research Institutions or Centres of Excellence).
3. Completed SCORE + exercise.

1. The Innovation Voucher is an incentive worth RM 10,000 to subsidise companies in engaging technical services to solve business or technical problem as well as developing innovative prototypes/products/services, intellectual property and creating tested and qualified products.
2. Voucher is valid for 1 year only.

1. Technical Advisory, Prototyping 


·         Early stage R&D, IC design services, prototyping
·         Development of new product / solution / services / process
·         Process Design, development and optimisation for yield enhancements


2. Technical Support Services


·         Product testing (interoperability test / reliability and robustness test / performance test / usability test/ CE test / Electromagnetic Compatibility Test)
·         Industrial design to improve the aesthetic, ergonomics and usability of products


3. Technical Skills Enhancement (*)


·         Specific technological training courses customised to the technology needs of the company i.e. workshops and courses for upgrading technology capabilities. For example:
a. Training on mask layout, accelerated integrated circuit design, circuit validation, embedded software and firmware design.
b. Semiconductor Failure Analysis Consultancy and Training
c. Semiconductor Material Engineering Consultancy and Training

* The technical skills enhancement must be procured together with any of the technical advisory services which will lead to Proof Of Concept (POC) or prototype or world class qualified product

Outcome 

1. To increase the number of collaborations in research and innovation between MSC Malaysia companies and Service Provider. 

2. To increase the number of innovative proof-of-concepts (POCs), products, services and solutions from MSC Malaysia. Potentially, it will lead to the increase in technology commercialisation and sales growth of the companies. 

3. To increase the number of IP (intellectual property) creation. 

4. To support the development and strengthening of triple helix model fundamental to National Innovation, contributing to national competitiveness.

MSC Malaysia Research and Development Grant Scheme (MGS)


Multimedia Development Corporation (MDeC)

Objective
:
To provide reimbursable R&D grant to assist Multimedia Super Corridor (MSC) Malaysia-Status Companies to develop innovative multimedia technologies and applications.
Maximum tenure
1 year
Maximum financing
Up to 50% of the approved total project cost or RM1.2 million whichever is lower, subject to the merit of each case
Maximum Investment
:
RM15 million or up to 10% of the total Committed Capital of the Fund Company

PENGENALAN


Perbadanan Kemajuan Multimedia (Bahasa Inggeris: Multimedia Development Corporation, singkatan: MDeC) ialah sebuah institusi milik kerajaan yang bertanggungjawab menguruskan Koridor Raya Multimedia (MSC Malaysia) sebagai kawasan industri dan perdagangan teknologi bertaraf dunia di Malaysia.
MDeC ditugaskan:

1)    Menarik pelabur ICT antarabangsa untuk mendirikan perniagaan di MSC Malaysia, sambil menyediakan bantuan teknikal dan pentadbiran
2)    Menjalinkan hubungan antara syarikat MSC tempatan
3)    Menarik bakat profesional ICT untuk bekerja di MSC Malaysia
4)    Menghubungkan operasi perniagaan baru dengan pekerja bermutu (melalui KWX)
5)    Menguruskan prasarana digital di kawasan MSC Malaysia (melalui MSC Technology Centre) dan keselamantan (melalui Trustgate)
6)    Menggalakkan pelaburan di perniagaan MSC Malaysia (melalui MSCVC)
7)    Menasihati kerajaan mengenai perkembangan undang-undang berkenaan teknologi
8)    Menyelenggara perkhidmatan perdagangan dan perumahan MSC Malaysia
9)    Membantu negara lain dalam Inisiatif ICT Kebangsaan melalui MSC Technology Centre

Menyokong pembangunan industri watan dan menggalakkan penglibatan secara langsung Industri Kecil Sederhana (IKS), Komuniti dan Industri.
Pencapaian:
  1. Tabung Pembangunan Kandungan (eContent Fund) dengan peruntukan RM150 juta (2006-2010). Sehingga penghujung 2007, 26 projek dengan jumlah peruntukan sebanyak RM18.7 juta telah diluluskan.
  2. Dana Strategik Untuk ICT (Strategic Funding for ICT) bertujuan untuk menyediakan geran dan insentif kepada pelabur-pelabur strategik terutamanya dalam mempertingkatkan perkembangan dan pertumbuhan syarikat-syarikat SSO tempatan.
  3. MSC Malaysia Research dan Development Grant Scheme (MGS) telah dimantapkan dan bertujuan meningkatkan harta intelek serta kepakaran teknologi serta menghasilkan produk-produk ICT yang inovatif melalui R&D. Sehingga penghujung 2007, sejumlah RM20.3 juta telah diluluskan.
  4. MSC Malaysia Pre-Seed Fund, di bawah Program Pembangunan Teknousahawan MSC Malaysia, memperuntukan geran RM150,000 kepada individu berkumpulan untuk menghasilkan pelan perniagaan dan prototaip. Sejumlah RM14.2 juta telah diluluskan di bawah dana ini.
  5. Skim Geran Aplikasi Penunjuk Cara (Demonstrator Application Grant Scheme, DAGS) menyediakan dana projek jangka pendek yang disasarkan kepada penciptaan, pembangunan dan promosi aplikasi baru ICT di peringkat komuniti. Peruntukan RM100 juta telah disediakan oleh pihak kerajaan di bawah skim ini dengan tujuan memberi peluang kepada badan bukan kerajaan, individu, syarikat dan komuniti untuk mengaplikasikan ICT bagi mempertingkatkan kualiti hidup. Sejumlah RM14.9 juta telah diluluskan bagi sembilan projek sehingga penghujung 2007.
